This is one of the lowest priced 1080 23″ monitors on the market, so maybe I can’t expect perfection, but the first one I ordered has a very nice screen. Colors are great, but the viewing angle for this type of screen is limited. But for the price range, I can’t expect perfection. Then when I tried to customize the settings, the problem began to surface. By default, the screen is set to 100% brightness. My room is usually dim, so I tried turning down the brightness and as soon as I got below 95%, I noticed a mid frequency hummmmm….ing noise. If you have a noise environment, you may never notice it, but I have a very quiet PC in a quiet room. The HUM is unacceptable. The ONLY setting that is quiet is near 100% brightness. I thought maybe it was defective, so I complained to Amazon customer service. The immediately sent another unit out in a few days.

The second unit arrived and it displayed exactly the same humming noise. It also had an issue with the D-sub port and would not display images correctly. I sent both monitors back for a refund.

Update: I recently purchased a Hyundai X224W 22″ monitor that was on sale. It exhibits the exact same humming noise as the ACERs when the brightness is turned down. This must be an artifact of some sub component that these low end monitors are using. I have used many other Samsung, HP, Dell flat screen monitors (more expensive) and have never seen this issue. Moral of the story is you get what you pay for.
